MAN’s bid for Scania is the Economic event of the year and Anders Borg is Economic personality of the year

Monday, June 11, 2007

The survey is part of a survey on Business Media and Journalists with 198 analysts, executives and investors voting. 16 events were listed and 12 personalities. The study is made by H&H in cooperation with Svensk Image.

German truck maker MAN bidding for Swedish competitor Scania is the  event of the year in Sweden. MAN had to withdraw the offer after a fierce battle starting in September 2007, but discussions are still going on behind closed doors.

The super boom, beating all forecasts, comes second with the new Swedish Government, the Alliance, elected in September as the third event. The lowering of taxes, especially on wealth and on real estate, takes fourth place with the Insider rings revealed in April as event number five.

New finance minister Anders Borg is elected ”Economic personality of the year”, with votes from more than half the electorate. Christer Gardell, Cevian Capital is runner up, with Agneta Falkengren, new CEO of SEB as number three of the twelve listed persons.

Awards in the ranking will be delivered at a ceremony at Café Opera Tuesday 12 June arranged by financialhearings.com.
