Securitas went from 24 websites to 1 web platform in 7 months

Securitas consolidated all their websites into one platform in 7 months! Read more about how we did it.

Securitas is the knowledge leader in security with operations in more than 30 countries. Securitas delivers security services to customers that range from small shops to large airports. Their 250 000 employees deliver quality services to customers in North America, South America, Europe and Asia. Their market share of the outsourced security services market is approximately 12 percent.

New concept to show the new Securitas

2007 Securitas decided to replace their existing websites with a new web concept of one platform and one graphic design that created the base for the entire group. The goal was to show the new Securitas to the world - the knowledge leader in security.

H&H was contacted for the assignment to together with Securitas internal organisation create a common web platform for 30 countries in 7 months. The platform should be based on real assignments and services that Securitas today delivers to their customers.

"We want to highlight two things. First, we wanted to use the web better to display our range of services, both globally and locally. Secondly we wanted to use the web more strategicly to find new employees" says Sune Nanberg, CIO at Securitas.

Early in the process, a number of key success factors were defined:

  • Focus on internal communication to coordinate a deeply decentralised web organisation
  • An information structure that managed to handle both local and global operations
  • Create a community of web editors around the world to support and inspire each other in this change

7 months to launch 24 websites

During 7 months the project team from H&H worked side by side with Securitas to create the new web concept. While developing the platform and the websites, a web editor for each site was identified and trained to handle the maintenance of the website.

"This work wasn't done by itself. It was hard work. But at the same time, this project shows that work of change is possible - also in a very decentralised organisation. I'm both proud and happy over this project" says Sune Nanberg.

After the launch of the 24 websites, further websites has been launched on the same platform - both new country websites and divisional websites for Alert Servcies, a division within Securitas.

Securitas' corporate culture where they key words are Integrity, Vigilance & Helpfulness, created the base for a focused and efficient cooperation and was a success factor for the project.
