Tuesday, December 15, 2009

A report published by Hallvarsson & Halvarsson reveals that Swedish CEOs earn just one third of what their peers in Europe do.

A survey of 29 companies in Sweden reveals that on average managers of large Swedish companies earn MSEK 12 compared to MSEK 36 in 44 European companies. The study also shows that CEO remuneration in 2008 in Sweden has fallen by 4 per cent since 2007. In addition the performance based salaries for CEOs of Swedish companies is around 30 per cent which is only half of what Europe CEOs receive.

The survey is based on data from annual reports. The total remuneration includes fixed salary, performance based salary and share related long term incentives (LTI) but not pension costs. Data for 2008, 2007 and 2006 has been studied and the report is published for the third year by the communication consultancy Hallvarsson & Halvarsson.
