The financial crisis put its stamp on the past twelve months. The Swedish Minister of Finance Anders Borg was voted The Man of the Year in Economics and the Greek financial crisis was voted The Event of the Year.
The survey, part of The Media and Economic Journalists Ranking 2010, is based on votes from the Swedish financial elite among investors, analysts and CEOs. This year Anders Borg, Minister of Finance was voted, for the fourth consecutive year, The Man of the Year in Economics. On second place came Bo Lundgren The Director General of the Swedish National Debt Office, followed by Stefan Ingves Governor of Sveriges Riksbank.
Last year the financial crises and Lehman Brothers' collaps dominated the financial media. The year before it was the Subprime scandal. This year the financial crisis in Greece topped the list followed by the recovery of the stock market during spring 2009. In Swedish media the ongoing story on Spyker’s purchase of Saab Automobile was listed as the biggest event.
This is the fourteenth year that Hallvarsson & Halvarsson together with Svensk Image conduct The Business Media and Journalist Ranking.
