KWD Webranking

KWD Webranking (previously H&H Webranking) is an annual survey of listed companies’ web content which in 2010 ranked more than 900 companies. The results are published each autumn in both the international and national business press. Companies can then buy reports containing advice and recommendations for improvements.

Nowadays a corporate website is a compulsory communications channels for listed companies, providing the ideal medium for communicating financial reports and share information to the capital market, and can also be used to publish information on the business, provide material for journalists and report on the company’s role in society.

What information should a corporate website contain?

KWD Webranking will show you whether your company’s website offers the information the capital market is looking for. The content of listed companies’ websites is ranked each year. The companies included in the survey are selected on the basis of market value. In total the survey includes more than 900 companies. Together these form a European list and a dozen national lists.

Value of KWD Webranking

Our reports provide a detailed guide to creating a successful corporate website. The reports are individually drawn up for each company and contain a number of recommendations plus advice for the specific company. The reports inspire companies to continue to improve by pointing out shortcomings and providing concrete examples of best practice both from within the company’s own sector and from Europe’s biggest companies.

Method and process

The process begins in May, when the KWD Webranking questionnaire is sent out to economic journalists, financial analysts and investors all over Europe. The results of the questionnaire form the basis for the protocol on which the ranking is based. The protocol contains just over 120 measurable criteria, which are weighted to correspond to the market’s demand, i.e. the weighting system reflects the type of content increasingly being demanded by the capital market.

The criteria are divided into ten subheadings as follows:

  • Structure, Design & Technology
  • Global/Interactive Functions
  • Corporate/IR frontpage
  • General Company Information
  • Press Room
  • IR/ Financial Information
  • Corporate Governance
  • Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR
  • Contact Information

Publication and reports

During the autumn the results are published in both the international and national business press in Europe.

History

The first survey was carried out in 1997, covering only Swedish corporate websites. In 1999 the survey was widened to include other Nordic countries and the first European survey was conducted in 2001. KWD Webranking now covers more than 900 companies in 28 countries. A ranking is also carried out of state-owned companies.
